Fuggedabout the Oatmeal, Griddle Cakes are what's for Breakfast!
Fired up the griddle for the first time this morning. Seasoned it with Crisco, then cooled down till the water drops danced. Convinced my wife to make the batter so I got to cook.
I was amazed at how well the griddle worked. Despite never having used it before, I did not have a problem with them sticking at all, and the griddle cakes turned out perfect, every one. That's unusual for me, normally what I do is burn them outside leaving goopy raw batter inside.
We realized that we haven't made pancakes in over a year, because let's face it, who wants to cook pancakes on a ****** electric cook top?

just wait till you try french toast on the griddle...then eggs and bacon, canadian bacon is especially fantstic on the griddle....burgers work too. you can brown your buns and even sear pineapple rings on the griddle. for cooking using lot sof pots and pans, the griddle can act as an auxillary burner. just get it hot and load it up with all your pots and pans, works like a charm ! enjoy the griddle !

French toast and bacon and eggs will likely be tomorrow's breakfast. Then the wife will take over after lunch for a thermowell slow-cooked corned beef and cabbage feast.
What a great range! Never thought I'd say this but cooking on them is tons more fun than restoring them!
